Are they worth saving and how much would you pay to salvage one of these beasts?

The Toyota GR Corolla is a hot hatch that really impressed us when we drove it last year. Since then, dealers have been making it all but impossible to pick up for MSRP, as we’ve reported repeatedly over the past few months. Now, the first few wrecked units are making their way to auction and we have a trio for you to choose from.

Toyota sells the 2023 GR Corolla in three trim levels, Core, Circuit, and Morizo Edition. These three all seem to be the base-level Core trim as they all feature color-matched roofs, something that the other two trims wouldn’t, while the Morizo also does away with the rear seats. As such, they all come with a running three-cylinder turbocharged engine that’s factory-rated for 300 hp (223 kW) and 275 lb-ft (372 Nm) of torque.

That’s a lot of power for such a small car and it’s no surprise that people started crashing them months ago. What we haven’t seen much of until now that is, are wrecked units popping up on salvage auction websites. The first of the bunch we’ll highlight here has under 3,000 miles and perhaps the worst damage of the three.

The rear passenger quarter panel looks like this car ended up as a stunt vehicle in a Fast and Furious drift scene gone wrong. The wheel has quite a bit of toe out which we suspect is the result of a broken control arm. There’s no telling what else might be wrong with the axles, the differential, or the driveshaft either. The body itself is going to need some love too.

Next up is another red GR Corolla but this time with just 1,768 miles on the odometer. It also has passenger-side damage but this time it’s to the front wheel. Somehow, the bumper itself looks largely OK as does most of the rest of the car. The airbags are intact as well.

Finally, there’s a white (Ice Cap) GR Corolla with quite a bit of damage, again, to the passenger side. This time though it covers both fenders and both bumper covers. It’ll take a lot of work to bring back but it has only 977 miles. Which would you pick and how much would you be willing to pay?
